Now nursing professionals are also permitted to practice independently in some countries depending on their training levels. The nursing education has undergone a process of diversication towards advanced and specialized credentials.
Nursing professionals develop a plan of care, working collaboratively with physicians, therapists, patients, the patient's family and other team members that focus on treating illness to improve quality of life. They also help to coordinate the patient care performed by others member of an interdisciplinary health care team, including therapists. medical practitioners and dieticians.
Nursing education in India is regulated by The Nursing Council Act, passed in 1948. This act ensures the quality of nursing education in India. The Indian Nursing Council (INC) is an autonomous body that acts as a regulatory body for nurses and nursing education.a Any candidate desiring to practice nursing after passing out nursing course has to register in State Nursing Council. Healthcare sector is now one of the priority areas of Government of India. Some sources say that the country is facing 50% shortage in this profession.
