School of Agricultural Sciences

Agriculture has been playing a significant role in the Indian economy besides providing livelihood to 52% of the population of the country; it contributes to 15% of Gross Domestic Production India. The country witnessed the Green revolution, the White Revolution, and the Blue revolution over the past three decades, and the trained and educated human resources in Agriculture and allied areas were instrumental for these revolutions in the country.

Agriculture and allied sectors had been showing a spectacular increase in production, from food deficient stage during the early sixties to surplus production since 2000, and India emerged as one of the major exporters of food grains, milk, meat, eggs, fish, prawns, vegetables. Fruits etc. Realizing fully the importance of imparting quality education, agriculture education became so popular in the country with the establishment of around 73 Universities exclusively fir imparting India, and agricultural education in the country. Furthermore, more than 3o traditional Universities in India are also offering courses in various disciplines of Agriculture and allied areas.

Imparting education in Agriculture and other related areas are found very relevant in SVU in taking cognizance of the vast agriculture fields situated in the district of Amroha and the huge population who are depending on agriculture as the major source of livelihood. Knowledge-based, input-use efficient, eco-friendly, and high tech precision agriculture has been the next stages for improving agricultural production in the country. It is against these backdrops that SVU has decided to start the following courses.
